This is especially great if you have old watercolors hanging around that didn't quite work out as expected. Join illustrator Michaela Eaves in exploring this tiny art. All supplies will be provided, though you are welcome to bring failed watercolors for tearing up or beads and findings you'd like to use on a unique and colorful project.

Instructor: Victoria Clayton

Have you ever wondered what would it be like to pick up a brush and just begin a new journey of discovery using paint and other materials? Have you talked yourself out of this because it seemed hard or intimidating? Well this class is just for you.

From the beginning of time people have been drawing and painting on about every surface they could use and with as many materials as they were able to figure out would allow them to make a mark; we do this because creative expression is a need all humans have. When this need is blocked or repressed, we experience blockages and repression in other areas of our lives. Art opens our world to possibilities; by allowing your creative energy to flow you allow your life energy to flow as well.

In this class we will journey together in the exploration of a number of materials and techniques of Drawing and Painting that would allow us to express ourselves creatively. In addition to the use of materials and techniques, participants will learn about five different modern styles of Painting: Pointillism, Expressionism, Cubism, Impressionism and Surrealism.

No previous experience is necessary and all levels are welcome.

Victoria Clayton both studied and taught art at the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently teaches at Annie Wright.
